Re: Slightly confused...

Who said "true" 1080p is 60fps? 1080p is 1080p, regardless of fps.

>>>I think your telling me to set the Denon DVD player setting to 1080i. Correct? <<<
Correct.

>>>Ok, if so, my television will de-interlace that 1080i signal from the dvd player to 1080p @ at 30 frames per second (unlike 1080p @60 frames per second which is true 1080p) Am I Correct?<<<
That depends on the source. I beleive film is 24fps. I don't know any sources that are 1080p/60. Both HD DVD and Blu-ray are 1080p/30 encoded on the discs. 1080p60 takes up too much space.

Remember, your player is only upscaling the 480 info on your DVD.

I have a 60" SXRD, and my HD DVD player takes the 1080p30 from the disc, interlaces it to 1080i60 which the TV the deinterlaces back to 1080p30 (or 3:2 pulldown-a seperate issue). There is NO loss of information. Others more technically informed can explain better than I can.

>>>What occurrs if I set the dvd player to output 1080p?<<<
Nothng, just a blank screen.
Hope this helps.
Jack
