Re: Thinking About A 32" LCD....

Hi,

I was in the same boat as you are in about a month ago.

After some research I bought the Toshiba 32HL66. Owned it for two weeks and returned it to upgrade to the Sony KDL 32S2010. Why did I change. Well I was really not quite satisfied with what the tv did with some black shades. Individual objects were black but night sky scenes and even the top and bottom bars were more purple black than gray black. Also I thought some green colours were too flourescent.

The Sony was a bit better with the blacks and more accurate in colour portrayal but didn't think the picture was as sharp and vibrant. And the design of the tv frame made the tv screen appear smaller (illusion effect). The sound of the speakers were also not that good compared to the toshiba. Moot point if using a A/V receiver.

Now this brings me to my current set, the Samsung LNS3251D (black).

Better SD PQ, better blacks, higher resolution pic on HD, richer/vibrant pic and images appear more 3D. The tv looks great and is thinner than most.

Costs a bit more than the Toshbia but I felt it was worth it.

Also looked at Panasonic, JVC, LG and Sharp Aquos. Wished I could have spent more time with the Sharp but felt there blue colours were a bit off.

BTW the Samsung is a bit too red on some shades and I'm not sure professional ISF calibration can fix this.

Well this was a fun journey. When I eventually move into a bigger place I will be looking into Sony 1080p SXRD for screen size 50" and above.

Good Luck!*>)
