Re: Movie theatre presentation our standard ?

Once upon a time, a lot of effort was put into projecting the best picture possible...but it seems that no one cares anymore. I have been theatres where the film is clearly out of focus. I often complain, but with little effect.

HOWEVER, under the best conditions, 70mm or IMAX done by a theatre that cares, will crush and destroy ANY video display. Before it was closed one movie palace still used carbon arc to generate the white light. Saw a couple of the Star Wars movies there. Nothing can compete with a scree that is over 60 wide!

Adams Family Values is the real torture test for any video display. In a theatre, you can see EVERY detail, which are mostly variations in black (assuming they do their job right in the theatre). On a video display, a lot of the detail is lost.
