Need HELP with TV problem!!!

I have a rear projection TV set from Pioneer, the Elite Pro-98 which is about 4 years old. I've started noticing that the images on the right 1/3 and the left 1/3 of the screen have blue shadows. I looked at the manual, and tried correcting it by adjusting the convergence of the blue lense or projector, but could not move it any further, and the shadow is still showing. The shadow is about an inch off.
Can anyone give me some ideas as to what could be wrong? I know I will need to find a TV technician to fix this, but I don't want them to overcharge me for some minor repairs because I was ignorant about the problem. Thanks in advance.
