Re: Need opinion on MIRAGE speakers

I have the FRX-7's ($700), and enjoy them. The FRX-9's ($1200) are impressive, as well - you seem to want bass, and they are the bass kings of the FRX range. They probable offer tighter and more accurate sound than a separate sub (having a 100 watt amp. and 12"? side firing sub in each speaker). The OM series ($1200,$900) may provide a larger sound stage, and are impressive for entertaining when you need a larger "sweet spot" - so that all your friends in the room get good sound - not just you sitting in the "money seat". You may notice slightly less detail with the OM over the FRX. With proper room placement you can't go wrong with any of these speakers - let these speakers break-in for 100 hours before you decide they are too bright - IMO the metal tweeters do ring a bit when new.

I have the FRX-3's as rears on isolated stands - they are great in 5.1. I have seen some posts that would argue that the FRX-CC is not a match for the FRX-7's or 9's - that it is more suited to the 3's or 1's. I have not got much to offer there, as I have a (gasp - PSB center). I will be looking at Mirage CC - OM and FRX and making a choice from there.

I do think Mirage offers good value. The Paradigms are good as well. The Studio series sounds great to me, but some think them bright and brashy - metal tweeters, no doubt. The masters of radiating technology are Mirage, as they will tell you, they claim to have invented it. If you are going to buy radiating speakers, give them a honest listen. Your dealer will probably negotiate with you, or order them from a dealer in Canada.
