Table top RPT......what to do?

205.188.196.52

Hi all,

I got one for all you smart people out there. I'm in the market for a new TV to replace Sony 27". I want the advantages of larger screen size but am sorta limited to space, I'll explain.

I just bought a new side-by-side Studio Tech rack for my components.(total of 4 bays for equipment.) My Sony 27' on top. Well, when it was time to put the center channel in place, (on top of TV) it was just too big. So, I went back to dealer and got a 7" add on shelf to place center channel under TV. This works great, BTW. Now, the problem is, since adding the 7" shelf, this puts the total rack height @ 30". Rack is 48"w x 24" d x 30" h

I need a TV that is table top compatible. I looked at the 36" Sony Wega, and this would put the top of TV at 61". Am I crazy? I also looked at the 43" Sony 43TJ70 (i think thats it), the one that comes apart from the stand. This would put top of TV at 70" (+ or -). Am I REALLY crazy?

My viewing distance is about 12-13 feet. If I have to, I guess I could remove the shelf holding center channel and lower rack height to 23" and put center on top of TV, assuming THAT'S not to high and the TV is deep enough. (center channel is 13" deep.) I like having the center only 22 " of the floor, seems like it would sound better than having it up at 60 or so inches on top of TV.

Something around $2500 is preferred.

Let me know how you guys handle your own specific situations.

Thanks alot to anyone that can help.

Alin W.
