There are two things (in general) that cause ghosts in the picture. One, the most common, is reflection RF of the original signal received trough antenna.
Second is mismatch in impedance and cable lenght that can possible cause very similar thing.
Since you say this is almost extreeme case, I would say you are receiving reflection of the some metal parts in the house / building.
Your ONLY solution is take antenna in your hand and chase for a place where this reflections are small or comletely gone. There is no other solution unless you get outdoor antenna where this reflections are usualy less problem and are easier to deal with.
RF problems like this are very unpredictable, so do not let someone sell you some magic filters before you have a "dance" with antenna.
