Re: ?good reciver for 7.1 system

Joe's got some good receivers listed. For the money I don't think any receiver can touch the Denon 3801.

The Denon 5800 is 170 watts x 7 and it sounds very, very good with music as well as movies. You might want to check out B & K AVR307 also - I've not heard it, but I've heard it sounds fantastic. I just got the Yamaha RXV1, which is a great machine, but it can be bettered by the Denon 5800 and the B & K, how much better is for you to decide. I got the Yammy for just over $2K so it was a better buy for me and it still sounds great. But, I'd probably get the Denon 5800 if I was in your shoes and liked the remote that comes with it. That is if you really want a receiver. The separates route will certainly give you better sound but it's an area I'm unfamiliar with.
