His most iconic film role of course was that of Freddie in My Fair Lady... But his best was as you noted in the Sherlock Holmes series... I would also add The Barretts of Wimpole Street, the made for TV version of Rebecca with Brett as Maxim DeWinter and I was fortunate enought to see Brett on stage as Dracula, when he took over the role from Frank Langella. Unfortunately, as you commented he died too young.....
