'Let Him Go': Evil always turns ugly . . .
Posted by Billy Wonka on November 6, 2020 at 18:03:46:
Margaret and George Blackledge are heart-broken over their son's accidental death then losing their daughter-in-law and grandson to a far away marriage. Margaret develops a desperate need to be with her grandson after seeing signs of abuse. This is where the lady on your arm understands Margaret's feelings and we guys just shake our heads with grim resolve.
Margaret sets a quest in motion to bring young Jimmy home and it leads to Casa Weboy where the purely evil Blanche Weboy rides herd over all her boys with an iron hand. This is where evil for evil's sake kicks in and surprising things happen.
In the opening sequences, I thought Costner was born to play the middleaged hubster while Lane was a tad too gilded. Leslie Manville showed amazing versatility in playing Blanche who is everyone's nightmare.
Things happen. Bad things.
