"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer"

Don't laugh. I know, sounds dumb as hell, no way a serious film. But imo, it is, and fairly clever, although some will be insulted. I doubt this played much in southern theaters.
This 2012 film was produced in part by Tim Burton, based on a 2010 book with the same title. Title role was played by Benjamin Walker, with the bad guy vamp played by Rufus Sewell. Martin Csokas is also in it somewhere. Some guy with an unpronounceable name directed it. I caught this weird gem on a back cable channel last night.
The basic idea is that the Confederacy consisted of vampire plantation aristocracy, who originally fled from Europe, and who feed off of the slaves -- literally and figuratively. The action revolves around the Confed vamps trying to hold off the Union from ending their southern empire, failing, thus freeing the slaves from the plantation dinner tables. Remaining vampires fled the country, giving the South back to the Union. Or something like that. There is a historical thread weaving in and out of the script, and I think it is well placed. Now you see it, now you don't.
Depicting slave-owning confederates as vampires is a clever and cruel piece of sarcasm, but it works. It sold books. Acting was good, especially Walker as Lincoln. Also I've never seen Sewell give anything but a first class performance -- usually as the bad guy.
This is a good dark fantasy film. Try to find it.
