Converting Earc

Posted by s.a.b. on August 15, 2021 at 10:46:53:

I have a new Sony oled tv which has a hdmi earc output.

For sound I'm using a 2 channel system using the tv's optical digital out which feeds a Benchmark DAC/pre which feeds my 2 channel amp.

Sounds good, but is there anyway the earc output can be converted so I could have the benefit of uncompressed codecs like Dolby Atmos while still using the Benchmark DAC? (I know there is a converter known as the SHARC but would that work with the Benchmark DAC or would it just work with older AVRs.)

Thanks
