Is the setup screen a Pioneer or Sony setup screen and are you saying that the Sony will not upscale the Pioneer's video to 4k?

I would try three things:

1. Make sure both the Pioneer and the Sony have the latest firmware installed.

2. Try a different HDMI cable for the Pioneer and/or move it to a different HDMI input on the Sony.

3. Perform a factory reset on the Pioneer.
