    My Toshiba SD9200 started to make strange noises after a few months of service. Took it to my local Toshiba authorized service center. They swapped out the ICs and the transport. Works beautifully again, so far.

      It is not life threatening, only annoying. Sometimes, if I take the disk out and reposition it, the sound goes away.
