Hi folks. I have a Pioneer Elite 62" widescreen RPTV, of the older analog ilk. The sound reflects off the tv and muddies up my imaging when in 2 channel stereo mode, which is about 90% of my listening. I hung a Persian carpet over the front of the TV and could not believe the improvement of sound I was getting. Really amazing detail and sound staging improvement! So the question: does anyone make a TV cover for this purpose? The carpet is just too slippery and temporary a solution, not to mention the wierd look. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat, with a Pioneer PRO730 in between my speakers. If you go to some of the pro audio web sites (or have access to their catalogs) look under acoustic material. They sell packages of paneling, designed to either absorb or diffuse sound waves.Or you could diy with certain fiberglass materials (covered with fabric) Check out the Rives forum, I've seen this question asked there.
This summer, for one of my projects, I plan on making panels, with piano hinges. That way they can support themselves when being used, and folded up and stored away when not in use.
My permanent solution will be to have the audio and video in two separate rooms, but that's later.

I don't think you'll find commercially-available covers for your TV, but you can have one made. Take careful measurements of the dimensions of your RPTV, and then visit a local fabric store. Pick out the fabric and pattern you'd like, and ask their seamstress to make you a slipcover. Natural fabrics tend to be better suited from an acoustics standpoint than synthetic fabrics.I have done this for loudspeakers and other items that I wanted to keep our cats from messing with, including the front speaker grille of a large RPTV. The cost was reasonable.

What does a female's biological function ( . ) have to do with any of this? [place Smiley here]

Nothing. I had linked to the above post on the SACD board and simply wanted to be sure this thread wasn't deleted by the poster.

If you're going to mix audio with video, get a flat screen display (both plasma and LCD will be avaiable in sizes up to 65" this year) or a front projector. Big ugly boxes: it's time to just say "No!" .

Seems you have just as big a problem with a full-range center. More so because the center should be lined up in an arc between the two main speakers (for MC SACD) and not set back as a TV would be normally.

My center speaker (same as the L/R) sits on the floor, set back into an arc, exactly where the TV used to be. The plasma is just above it.
