Thank you for the advice. I am thinking that it is probably a problem with the decoder in the receiver. If it was the dvd player than we would have the problem with cds too. We have checked all of the levels and everything seems to be fine. Since the reciever has the final control of the sound, I think it has to be the problem. Going to call pioneer tomorrow!
Follow Ups:
Voice overs normally comes through the center speaker. You may have a problem with the DVD player or the receiver. I agree that it plays audio cd's as well but the dvd is coded differently.Solution suggested:
* Try another DVD player
* Check whether your receiver has the facility of bypassing the surround mode and going on stereo. This will give some indication of where the fault lies
* Reciever has a problemHope this helps
