Drama, wit, and all-out great acting will compel you to pay attention to this real-life soap opera. The entire acting squad did their job with one hitch, the newcomer, Miss GaGa. She wasn't awful but over-the-top. Toning it down or "playing it easy" really isn't in her vernacular yet.
We were gifted with another "great moment" when Pacino and Irons faced off about the family business.
Leto played Paolo Gucci, "the idiot", with a range of idiosyncrasies that were both annoying and believable. In the beginning, he appeared to have a bad makeup job but by mid-feature I no longer saw the makeup, I saw a real person. Leto's ability to become another "character" is amazing. Somehow Pacino managed to control his character and not become a scenery chasing zealot. As Irons brother (and 50% shareholder) he was much more human than the hoity-toity Irons.
The story the film tells is compelling as everyone in the family competes to take control of Gucci. By the mid-'90s there were no families in the business.
Finally, a hitman helps decide who was getting control.
Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
Follow Ups:
After Maurizio's fate had been decided he was walking in a high-ceilinged public space when a jogger passed through the seen. Out of place but the same jogger from Ridley's "The Counselor'. Jogger = Death.
She's a waste of screen time! No one will convince me that she can act....She's nothing more than Madonna part 2.....AND NOT as HOT! She can sing though, I will give her that.... Just not my kind of music....
how many angles they could shoot to hide her misshapen head and features. Man, she is yuugly. I don't see the Oskies being a run-off of between Kristen and GaGa. Neither impress.

I love it when he gets to yell, which means I love Al Pacino.
Because Al Pacino ALWAYS gets to yell.

There was a brief period a couple decades ago where he wasn't
quite pulling his weight, but he seems to have overcome that slack
more recently.Just since "Angels in America" he's chosen some VERY interesting
and (previously) way out of character roles and made them fantastic. Thanks!!!
