Anybody have some double features for films they think go well together?
A good thematic one-two punch for flicks that you think create the same vibe or overlap to your liking?
When I was a kid, the local theater ran "Seventh seal" and "Love and Death" as a double feature that was pretty spiffy.
I think "The Graduate" and "Chose Me" both created the same feeling. same with "Blade Runner" and "The Hunger" for some reason - I think same art director, or something.
Any favorites of yours?
Follow Ups:
"The Wild Bunch" and "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" - Peckinpah's two
best westerns, and two of the best ever made.
Or ...
"Chinatown" and "LA Confidential" - two very stylish and very good
crime flicks
My wife greatly enjoyed Heat and Ronin, she had not seen them before.
In Heat, she gave the nod to Pacino for having done a better job. No comment from me on this part.
Ok....
Blade Runner and Dune
Caddyshack and Stripes
The Departed and Goodfellas
The Professional and Romeo is Bleeding
Das Boot and The Hunt for Red October
Angle Heart and Jacob's Ladder
Trainspotting and Snatch
Tree of Life and Another Earth
Airplane and History of World Part 2
Dirty Dozen and Guns of Navarone
Bull Durham and Slapshot
Apollo 13 and The Right Stuff
Nothing is "perfect", but here are a few that are somewhat themed together; just off the top of my head....
I am about to be snowed in here in KC....so some double features my do the trick...Good post...
thanks

Now...is that anyway to behave at rock-n-roll show??
Jim Morrison, Absolutely Alive
Great music and humanity in both films.

The tone is too different.
Now, Recent Thing Prequel and Carpenters Thing.... that would be a perfect double-bill.
If you could sit through that much blood & guts.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
really happened and seemed to work at the time. Seems pretty strange now in retrospect.
LOVED going to repertory theater matinees during the 70's & 80's for grand fun double billings.
The Sean Connery 007 films always made for a good time.
Godfather One and Two...
Saw ALL the original Planet of the Apes films one day around 1977.
I could make up "perfect" billings, but the reality is already as perfect as it needs to be!

Both star Michael York, whose character seems to play in both films.
Something For Everyone, by the way, is a cruel little comedy also starring Angela Lansbury. No one ever seems to have seen it.
P.A.
The segue is the same scene!

...In The Realm of Senses.
Shirley Mc AND Dirty Jack?
And Debra "Scenery Glutton" Winger?
I am s h o c k e d .
I was biting my tongue to keep my date from seeing me sprinkle.
She's either in or out... can't believe I said that...
...and Jack's balls cut off?
It is a double feature, for Pete's sake! :) The first film lures your mother-in-law into the false sense of security, she lowers her guard...
AND THEN YOU HIT HER ON THE HEAD!!!!
My girlfriend told me it was a great new comedy with Jack, Shirley, and Debra Winger and I went in expecting an intentional comedy.
It never got that funny, and then when the character who died died, I turned to my girlfriend and said, "This isn't such a funny movie."
Then she laughed at me for 20 minutes.
My expectation so colored my experience, that I have no official opinion of that flick.
It's probably her favorite film...
I've never laughed so hard!

Didn't much care for Repo Man.
finest speech in cult film.
Jump forward to 1:11 if you want just the code; I'd recommend setting the scene, however.
Headed to the rental store tonight!
a perfect movie for Kyle MacLachlan and he did well!
enjoy

..but The Hidden has plenty of dark comedy, almost like a Tarantino flick. In fact The Hidden would be a good double feature with Death Proof.
Whenever I watch one, I have an urge to watch the other.
