Those who liked it havent seen any Star Wars movies, leave alone other spectacular Star Trek and others. And to top it all, wisecracks from Clooney. Cant trust Oscar voters.

...did you see it in 3-D on a huge screen as it was meant to be seen?
Otherwise, I don't think you have really seen it since the 3-D is an integral part of the film.
It was my favorite film last year and I saw nearly all of the best film nominees (except Philomena).
I saw 3D in the theatre. 3D is a trigger for my migraine. I dislike such gimmicks.

...so it's a personal thing.
Sorry, but eventually all movies and TV will be 3-D.
Not really personal. I enjoyed Avatar in 3D in spite of aura of migraine. Ah, now come to think of it, perhaps the Chagall like paintings I see as aura added to the beauty of that movie.

m, by then I will be in the Fifth Dimension.
Picking up that old CD. Long time since I listened to it.

...projected by a relatively modest Epson 8700UB projector, it looks spectacular. My angle of view is about 42 degrees, wider than most.
* That's 96" wide, not diagonally.

Some things are better bigger. I really like fireworks displays but recordings of them suck. Scale is important in a movie like this.
Is like comparing Casablanca to the three stooges.
These are totally different kinds of movies.

It was entertaining.
Never cared for Star Wars-a fairytale in space with bad acting. The Star Trek movies were hit and miss, going where toupees have never gone before.

answer: almost nothing.
Star Wars is a fantasy children's story movie franchise. All of it.
Read the movie prologue for Star Wars IV (A new hope)
" A long time ago in a galaxy far away....."
If it reads like a fairy tale, that's because it is.
The movie "Gravity" is set in present day, or perhaps the near past. Science fiction, yes. Speculative fiction. What catastrophe might possibly happen during a routine mission to repair a satellite, while in orbit above Earth, and how to survive it. That seems to be the premise of Gravity.
Apart from being set in "space", I fail to see the connection between Gravity and any of the Star Wars franchise movies.... or cartoons.
Why would you make that comparison?

The last few were Pathetic!
Most Over Rated Movies EVER!
4, 5 and 6 (the first batch) don't wear well. 1, 2, 3 (the second batch) were awful. Of course, IMO.

animal characters, preposterous villains, a teen-aged protagonist that is asexual---- drivel for adults.
Oh come on tinear. It was great fun when I saw it with little son and daughters. We bought all SW toys and my 7 year old son even cut up the old Dad, who was the Darth Vader, with his laser beam making exactly the same laser sound. What fun we had! And after all these years we sat together and watched the whole series. Even cried when DV fell.
As for special effects, Gravity is a joke in comparison to what George Lukas has done. The only comparison, I must say, is that there is an actor with the same first name who is adept at making profound comments pretending to be as funny as Hans Solo.
