Are DVD releases cut differently from the theater movie releases? Are DVD-Re-releases, in general, cut differently from the original DVD release or movie?
I'm enjoying a bunch of recent DVD purchases, but I don't recall enjoying the movies as much when they came out.

No, they're the same unless they say otherwise e.g. extended, unrated, director's cut, etc.
At least for what you see. The audio is often different though, perhaps obviously. Occasionally the video formatting is different too (screen size), sometimes they try to imitate the e.g. IMAX or whatever scenes when they're mixed in theaters. And sometimes they change it a bit to fill a 16:9 display (WB does this most often of the biggies).
I couldn't make it to see Danny Collins starring Al Pacino when it had it's theatrical release. I rented the DVD and saw it last night, and the version I saw had some other strange looking guy starring instead of Pacino. Really disconcerting. ;> )
...some guy on the corner?
Whoever was acting, you didn't miss anything ;-)
Al looks totally bizarre with that hair.
