Well, it did take place in L.A., was shot there, and is purely L.A.- centric,
so no surprise in that astute observation.I'd have given the nod to "Good Luck and Good Night" (then and now),
even taking into consideration David Strathairn is basically a one trick pony.
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination"-Michael McClure

Probably just my thing, but she's hard to watch. Too much angst or something, coupled with that high-pitched whine she does. Having her as a frontliner in a movie takes it down 2 levels for me in appreciation. "Gravity" was a great movie all together, but her psycho-babble was grating like nails on a chalkboard.
"Good Night and Good Luck" was a masterpiece. The choice of black-and-white filming may have cost it the prize, although it's effect was perfect for the story.
...sorry, but I thought Gravity in 3D was brilliant and deserving of Best Picture Oscar.
A terrific movie. I'd rather see someone besides Bullock in the role, Rachel McAdams* maybe, but it was great.
*Kidding, big time.
Capote- would have been better in black and white.
...which of the nominees that year would you have voted for Best Picture?Good Night and Good Luck,
Capote,
Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain,
Spielberg's Munich
