This is all my opinion, but what I saw (recently, late again) was a very linearly developed plot, in which the viewer doesn't know what's coming until near the end.Tension throughout was kept taught; the finale' was actually final. Great acting from Josh Brolin as the asshole nondescript fed, Emily Blunt as the by-the-book clean company fed, and especially Benicio Del Toro as the mystery man tagging along with the activities. Del Toro has to be one of the greats at building cold tension in scenes and relationships. The guy can be chilling to the core.
Back in September, this was an easy call for some Oscars, but lots has happened since. Only 3 nominations regarding filming and sound, and I doubt any of those will produce an award. Too bad. This is a good one. You won't be taking popcorn breaks.

Dark, well made film. Never strayed off topic. Acting was first rate. I thought it very good also.
there were some excellent films last year that will not win a prize...
It was alright but nothing great.
I really enjoyed this and have seen it multiple times. The grittiness of Cartel Mexico was dark and grim and a pro-immigrant message for all.
she is a good actor, period.
Night and day.

Yes, I really noticed her in that movie (as opposed to one of the stars who I can't stand, and it ain't Streep...) and I'm glad she's got to do bigger and better since.
...
...her part in Edge of Tomorrow?
One-handed push-ups?

"E Burres Stigano?"
I loved the way she started enjoying killing Cruise. Yeah, she was a tough-fantasy-chick there, too.

...I say the best will be Spotlight that doesn't win.
Sicario is in my top 5.
