Yep, same old stuff. Just a small change in the plot and backstory characters but still action-rich with a few socks, kicks, and shootings. The Bourne Formula (like most films of this ilk) cannot be broken.Damon was 29 when filming the first installment, he is now 45 and it shows big time. Not in his moves but his overall looks. Tommy Lee Jones is the latest CIA Director and is in dire need of life-saving face lifts. Even Julia Stiles has lost what cute looks she once had. Only newcomer Alicia Vikkander looked youthful to make it into another installment.
As you might expect, Stiles has managed to crack the CIA's servers and download all the juicy black ops files which she wants to go public with (Wikileaks?). She meets Bourne and the chase is own. Jones and Vincent Cassel want to put him down while Vikkander wants to bring him in.
Now that I have given you the basics just pop in an earlier BR and just prented some of the characters have changed.
No, the production values can never be faulted and the writers can only create so much under the storyline constrictions. The best thing about the series is the travel and international landmarks. Always interesting.
The opening sequence shows Bourne in Albania making money by street fighting. Bourne and his opponent un-shirt and the from the crowd, "10 on the SERB", then "20 on SERB". Bourne gives one knockout punch and the evil of the world falls like a rock. What is this Serb thing? Every Euro-action movie I see has an evil Serb in play.
Oh well, I haven't said anything you didn't already know about the film. Apparently the "brainless audience" loves Jason Bourne as they showed in force. (Wait a minute, I went!)
Wait for cable or BR or just wear your hoodie to a night show so nobody will ever know.

I guess the JB thing wore off. I really liked the first 3, following a logical, sort of, plot. But then there was a hiatus where Damon wouldn't/couldn't do any more because of commitments elsewhere by him and his director. Whoever the first director was, was a genius with the fights and action. Damon said he wouldn't do any more unless that same guy was directing.
So we entered the void.
There was a follow-on movie with Jeremy Renner, trying to cash in on the Bourne schtick. Don't know how successful it was, but I liked that one also.
Now maybe it's just too late to get back on a ball that has rolled downhill.
