Imagine a dark, depressing, humorless tale of people becoming lost in time. Not one giggle, not one sunny day, just cold, rainy Winden and its nuclear powerplant.
This story is about an ensemble of characters that have three different actors for three different thirty-three year time periods. If you could somehow tag the characters like FaceBook things would be a lot easier from jump to jump.
We begin with kids playing around a cave that just happens to run under the local nuclear plant. Strange things happen and soon some of the kids disappear. This leads to the appearance of a sinister character dressed as a priest (riding in an RR) who is suspect along with others for snatching the Winden kids over time.
This thing is not Hollywood Simple but overly complicated. It's an interesting premise just worked to death to make a long Netflix mini. The main reason I finished it was because if you don't it will sit in Continue Watching for eternity.
Stick to 'Stranger Things' if you can stomach it.
Follow Ups:
Finished both seasons of Stranger Things so I had to start something new; Dark is indeed at the same time very similar but completely different.
So far very enjoyable but asks more attention from the viewer if one is to follow the plot and understand what is going on.
In a quite different genre, I watched the whole season of "The end of the fucking world" and enjoyed it a lot.
both kids were very good
While I usually like storylines similar this I wasn't paying enuf attention to really follow it. On the other hand, they both loved all 4 episodes they watched. Me, meh. I'll take Stranger Thangs, Travelers, Man In That High Tower, Glitch and OA if I want something Offbeat/Sci Fi-ish.
