I was wondering what you guys were lusting after right now--either picture, sound or content/player -wise
Follow Ups:
ordered it today
the panasonic 42PWD (480p) I bought 7 or 8 years ago (for the same price I paid for the Kiro !) is in the shop getting a new chipset.
It still works fine, but the remote went out about three years ago and I never got around to fixing it ... the remote accesses picture menu (which I set when I first got the pannel), speaker volume (don't use them), aspect ratio ( use the Sony SAT HD300 for that), and some high-end features (this is a pro monitor -- not the consumer model) that I haven't needed.
I was torn between getting another pro panasonic (TH-50PF9UK) because the bezel is so nice and thin and clean ....

could have gone either way ... but wasn't sure the HDMI card (add-on) on the panny was up to snuff.
... the Kiro is supposed to be state-of-the-art in plasma for another ten or twelve hours ... then Pionsonic is coming out with gen. 11
(the horror ... the horror)

.....with DVD performance at least as good as my current Denon but with BluRay performance obviously better - the upcoming Denon with Realta upscaling could be the one.
Failing that, I'll be upgrading to a 50" plasma, possibly a Pioneer 10G which probably won't be out for a couple of years.
Best Regards,
Chris redmond.
It also switches several inputs, syncs audio and video, and costs (or, will cost, come June) only $699!
That's the same chip used in the $3200 Calibre Vantage.

Preferrably one with Audiophile-grade DACs and audio processing and 5/7.1 balanced outputs (that one will be years away though - Denon might make a good stopgap)).
Or an HDMI 1.3-capable Pre/pro but I'm afraid I'd have to sacrifice preamp performance if I went this route.
Other wish list items:
5/7 monoblock amps (100+ W tube or 300+ W SS)
1080p Front projector
Subwoofer(s)
Separate, dedicated 2-channel audio setup.
But eventually, I should also continue buying the rest of my HD sound system piece by piece, starting with a B&W VM1 center channel, another set of LM1s and the PV1 woofer.
so my R and L get more than Denon receiver power.
But with income and property taxes due in April and some debt to pay down, I don't see it happening until summer or fall.

The HTM1D is much larger and uses a marlin head midrange/tweeter unit with the diamond-dust encrusted tweeter. It is a better match for my 802D L/R pair.
