Ed Norton wrote the adaptation, directed, and starred in this fresh story about a young detective with Tourette's who tries to find the murderers of his boss and mentor, Frank Minna (Willis). The story is loaded with memorable characters and actors set in '50s NYC. Part of the story revolves around a "Trumpian" character who is a NYC "boss" played with sweet irony by Alec Baldwin.

Lionel Essrog (Norton) soon becomes ensnared in the deepening story of Minna's involvement which leads to Baldwin, his brother (DaFoe), and GuGu Mbathe-Raw.

Worth it. It's not a remake!

This one has been on my "must see" list.

Looking forward to it.

Nice to hear they wrote characters worthy of all that talent.

Nice to see Norton achieving his potential.

Really looking forward to seeing this.

Different strokes, I guess.
I'll check it out on Cable, later.

Are we getting the end of the year volly of good films to be considered for Oscars?

I could not get on board with the novel, which was something of a sensation. I'll look for it, based on the talent roster.

A get the feeling for written columns that many think Phoenix has Best Actor sewn up. I would never bet on what I or they think the Academy will choose. Slim picking of really good films on Netflix until the top films are out in the late winter.

Since there is no more long term memory (12 whole months? Fergedaboudit!) and potential
nominations trump even marketing to the Hollyweird.

Wow! It's actually liberating to use the word trump with a small case "t"!

Just saw it.

If you have any affinity for New York City, it's a must see.

It is shot very well and definitely benefits from the big screen.

The acting is superb, especially Norton's.

A movie for our times, certainly.

It does very well on the big screen and is not a movie one doesn't get involved in.

However, whether it's a China Town or a Citizen Kane's ultimately, I don't know.
