I was expecting a buoyant, bouncing fest of witty repartee filled with chuckles and inside jokes. In the beginning that was true. Quite a few chuckles especially when Weaver was talking directly to us. Kline comes in as the village "garbage man" who Weaver had the hots for when they were young. They hookup and a few giggles come out of that, but . . . The NECESSARY SPOILER is this: the film is principally about alcoholism and its effects on loved ones and life in general. If you had knowledge of the book you would know this. Interestingly, the subject was slipped into the film slowly and by halfway it was full-on "how to get mama to quit". The movie is good, clean senior fun with nothing highly offensive about it. It was Weaver's show and overall it's an okay diversion. View YouTube Video |
