 In his later years he did some character work. Very well.
I liked his character in that 1998 X-Files movie. A whistle-blower executive type trying to get an important message to Fox Mulder about his father, and about a huge conspiracy that would shake the world if everyone knew it.

I remember staying up "late" on Sat. nights to watch Space 1999 on a 13" b&w. I was 7.
