 I had to drive to work every day right in the thick of it during the daylight hours. It should be interesting.

 Came home from overseas Sept 1967, two months after The Event, to some very nasty vibes. Interested in seeing someone's idea of what I missed.
Every movie since then based in the Detroit setting has had dark, violent, racist themes. Even the comedies.

 I dont remember Detroit as cold, hard, and dark. Some of that is over editorialized in movies. Most blacks I came accross were afraid of what was going on in 1967.

 Really, really liked it. Fox Theater is a special place. Very good acting.

 Havent been to the Fox since the mid fifties. I hear that its fully restored to its former glory. My mom (rip) had good memories of it from the 1920s and 30s.(Gene Krupa, eddie peabody etc).

The place was nearly destroyed by water damage in the seventies and eighties and used as a parking garage for a while.

 Hard to imagine that during those times, the city and state government, tolerated such non-sense?
