Particularly interested in opinions of audio quality.

Marantz has always been a brand of SS gear that I thought sounded better than average, and I hope it'll be close enough to the AQ of my tubed multichannel preamp that I won't notice the diff. with my aging ears.

My first real pre/pro was a Marantz AV550 and I liked it a lot. Even being the relic it was, the DACs were pretty good. The new products are in a whole different league.

I moved on to tube preamps integrated with a Yamaha RX2500 for surround. That Yamaha moved to my office with another to replace it for surround decoding and amp duty with the tubes pre and amp.

Recently, I've tired of messing with noisy preamp tubes and fiddling and went to the dark side with an Ayre SS preamp. I couldn't be happier.

Anyway, the AV7703 or '7704 are new. The 7704 isn't even shipping. The Amazon reviews on the 7703 are all raves. Check avsforum as they have a following on the new ones as well as the older 7702 which is been around a few years.
