 Purchased Deepwater Horizon...my first 4k dvd. Watched it last night and was underwhelmed with it. Honestly, saw no perceptible, to me anyway, difference from when I watched it via streaming several months ago. TV is a fairly new Sony 4k. The only thing that I wondered was whether the Blueray player I am using is a limitation since it is several years old.

Any thoughts?

 I don't think you will see any improvement if the player dose not support 4k.

 If you don't have a 4K player, all you are watching is upscaled 1080p.
I don't know how good 4K streaming is. Since streaming 1080p tends to be not as good as the discs, I'm guessing that 4k is in the same boat.
Plus, some 4K discs are really upscaled 1080p.

 It's the blue ray player. You can't get 4K video unless it's 4K from disc/source to display.

 Thanks folks...bought a new Blurry today...I'll watch tonight and hopefully have a positive report.

 ...and I'd be curious to know if you see an improvement in 4K video with your new player.

I wonder if the improvement is more pronounced with a bigger screen vs a smaller one. I suspect it would be harder to notice in a smaller screen.

Please report back! We're still on older 1080P screens around here and nothing larger than 46-inch.

 There is also expanded color space and dynamic range.
For the record, I don't have 4K. My Panny plasma is still going strong.

 Watched it last night. Pretty impressed. BTW...my screen size is 50".

 Something else to keep in mind is that 4K blurays are sometimes encoded with native res but many are just upscaled 1080P.
