They can remove it from your library at any time:

i. Availability of Purchased Digital Content. Purchased Digital Content will generally continue to be available to you for download or streaming from the Service, as applicable, but may become unavailable due to potential content provider licensing restrictions or for other reasons, and Amazon will not be liable to you if Purchased Digital Content becomes unavailable for further download or streaming.

So downloads can disappear and disc players are being discontinued. WTF is going on with this industry?

If some streaming is discontinued, it's not their fault seems to be what they mean.
Once a file is Downloaded, and paid for, it's yours.
Store it offline.
I bought a couple of mp3s of movie soundtracks I was going to be playing, they are still there in my Music folder.
I wouldn't buy anything else from Amazon to download or stream anyway.
Hi-Res for me.
Most sites you can re-download if you lose the original copy.

Well, I don't know.
But when I pay to stream a movie with Directv or Amazon Prime, I have only limited access, for a few days at most.
Most are free with the monthly service, and are available for a long time. but a few have additional Rental Fees.
Those aren't available for more that 2 or 3 days.
I once downloaded Mr Brooks, a few years ago, took HOURS. Streaming is better, quicker.
But I wouldn't expect unlimited access for Pay Streaming of a movie.

They can rent you a movie.

Or they can sell you a movie.

But if they sell you the movie they can not provide it to you and you're just out the money you paid.

Movie Downloads?
That would be foolish, too easy to share.
Have you lost anything yet?
