"Dragged Across Concrete" with Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn features some of the same cast as "Brawl in Cell Block 99" (Jennifer Carpenter , Don Johnson, Vince Vaughn).
The film has a series of isolated incidents that give the characters backstory before flinging them together, via heist, into a violent climax.
Even though I'm pretty thick skinned, some of the viciousness displayed upset me (the Jennifer Carpenter character in particular).
Gibson and Vaughn had chemistry and Gibson in particular was willing to be grizzled and unattractive.
If one doesn't want to discuss the fine line between a good action film, verses the sociological viewpoint of this story - it might be a good choice. Me? I was at the edge of my seat for a few minutes. In this climate of Hollywood dreck, sometimes that's as much as I can ask for.
Have a great day
Follow Ups:
I didn't 'get' much from the review altho it was generally positive, but my friend and I quite enjoyed the movie.. I also sort of wondered if the reviewist and I had seen the same movie.
I'll be seeing this one again.

I didn't get exactly what you are driving at about the movie.
I was gratified you made it pretty far before you had to punch out in anger. Against what you somewhat transparently label as Hollywood dreck.
Movies have provided me a lot of enjoyment throughout my life. I hope you see the joy in the situation, one of these days.
