I had no idea what to expect. I was thinking this will be more like Dinesh D'Souza explaining and praising the FLOTUS. But when the Rolling Stones opened up the soundtrack, followed by "Billie Jean," I knew this was not going to be a Dinesh-style docudrama.'Melania' offers a more intimate look at the small things in her world: Palm Beach, New York City, and Washington, D.C. The luxury stays in the background and you see the staff that buzzes around the Queen Bee and wonder how much that must cost-couture, assistants, stylists, event planners, etc. The direction and editing of this film were excellent. This was not a raw-looking piece of work and the film/video capture was always well-framed and moved fluidly with the action.
There were giggles, also. Early on, Melania takes a phone call from her husband, who starts to bloviate about what he did during his day. I found myself chuckling along with EVERYONE else in the theater. (The audience seems to understand her husband.) Later, her husband was making a comment after his oath of office and mentioned he had to go make the country great again. Two seats down a feminine voice said, "I just love him." Wow. Right after that, the camera followed the couple walking through the capitol to "The Thieving Magpie". I wonder who chose that piece? Was there an enemy in the ranks?
This film is a love letter to the Trump couple as well as their supporters. It seems to elevate both.
If Leni Riefenstahl was alive today, her name would be somewhere in the credits.

I (almost) feel like a high heel for suggesting that.
I've never seen such a wide disparity of reviews between pro and audience reviewers on RT. Currently 6% "fresh" by pros and 99% audience fresh. Many of the audience reviews are one or two sentences at most so I suspect the score is "gamed". Too, the type of person likely to pay their own money for this is unlikely to leave a negative review. I'm mildly interested in seeing this magnum opus but I can't find anyone to go with me to the theater . . . from the previews I saw, this is definitely a film you don't see by yourself.
Deviating here slightly, I'm really surprised you mention Riefenstahl. Although the mention is apt, the nazi baggage she carries will make that association very troubling to many . . . Even here in the placid, apolitical backwaters of "films".
And the Leni reference is not about politics but emotional manipulation. Very crafty. My report comes from deep inside Trump country, and the "I just love that man" was a real comment from two seats to the right of me.
If people could stop hating for 90 minutes, the 'Melania' experience could be a real hoot.
You're beyond brave but even I feel you just might
have a little too much spare time on your hands there.
Unless it was free popcorn day.
Glad it opened with a Stones tune, they need the dinero - which apparently was free flowing.
No Springsteen tunes?

I may go back a second time. Remember, Das Donald is a mere bit player in this one. But he provides plenty of chuckles.
Expendable and getting more so each day.

Not everything coming from famous island was rotten and that's one thing we have to contend with. bBy we I mean an "intellectual" people :)
Say what??????? Can you enlighten me as to any goodness emanating from that place? Seems that Europeans are the ones paying the most attention. Do they have higher moral standards? . . .
and 90% of political class too. The Island was just the perverse equivalent of an exclusive golf club business wise. I'd go there in a heartbeat if charitable soul would issue an invitation. Alas it's not a charity which was granting an invitation there. The opposite.

And for all this time I thought "Eyes Wide Shut" was a murder/conspiracy film. Turns out it was actually a documentary.
