A Korean film loosely based on a serial killer case in the 80's.
When young women start turning up dead in a small country town the local police department sends out their two best sleuths to investigate, these two reminded me of a witless and sadistic Laurel and Hardy sans comedy. When they are unable to crack the case a professional investigator is called in from Seoul and the film takes off from there.
There are a few uneven bits in this film but for the most part it is well acted, very watchable and worth seeking out.

Follow Ups:
precisely because it eschewed all those little tricks we've come to expect from the genre.
The "expert" I thought brilliantly acted with subtle expressions and omissions telling more than any skilled Hollywood scene-chewing sleuth.
What especially worked for me was the incremental mounting of horror as the realization of how clever, brutal, and unstoppable the killer was gradually sunk in to both the police and us, the viewers.
post was meant as negative. Maybe you are sarcastic? Anyway, I liked it a lot. Good suspense.
thought he didn't express its true worth.
I thought there was one plot twist where the DNA comes up negative that could not ahve been possibly true. otherwise, very good.
