I watched this on my 100-inch front projection theater setup last nite. I had been to it in a theater a couple years ago and thought it was a fine movie. But somehow, it never caught on at the box office.
BUT, let me say this...I enjoyed the movie even more the second time at home.
AND also...if you are looking for a movie to show off your new big screen flat panel or front projection setup, AND with Dolby AND dts soundtracks, this comes HIGHLY recommended for the YOU ARE THERE dogfights and realistic old plane sounds.
A MUST HAVE for your big screen home theater library.
Follow Ups:
The aerial footage - video and audio - is outstanding but....
on the ground it lays a big egg. For me it was like watching the WWI version of "Pearl Harbor"; another war film with great Fx and sound but inane dialog and cliche characters.
But it would sure make a great demo film for a hot AV system like yours.
It had no real substantive quality other than to use all the well-worn plot cliches.
The flying sequences were good but I still appreciate The Blue Max more for WWI flight.
is a pretty good film and its aerial sequences are excellent. Plot, dialog, and characterization are far better than "Flyboys" manages.Sadly, the newer film is yet another "cgi blockbuster" that fails to deliver. And it's far from the worst of the lot. (Need I mention "Alexander?")
double Ewwwwwww!
