I just saw this in the link below. As a fan of both this project intrigues me.
Anybody know any details?*
"Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of truth and knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods." - Albert Einstein
Follow Ups:
documentary with carefully chosen videos and interviews would be so much better.
For one thing, who can rival Ali for charisma? Will Smith was a 10-watt bulb trying to be a 5,000 watt floodlight.
Same for James Morrison.
Coltrane, et al.
Now, for a second-rate personality like Jake LaMotta, okay. DeNiro outshines him any old day.
"Bird".
A good film, with an oustanding perfromance from Forrest Whittaker as Charlie Parker.
Personally, I'm doubtful about biopics until proven otherwise. But I generally wait until there's finished product before I pass judgement.
Okay, I have more then one word...
Like most music bio- films - The Eastwood Bird film centered on Parker's romantic relationship.
In this case, his relationship with Chan Richardson(after two failed marriages). Despite the fact they had two kids, the film made the relationship the centerpiece of his life which is contrary to all the other bio's I've read.
If I remember correctly, Eastwood took the liberty of re-recording all the rhythm tracks... which sounded suspiciously phoned in from the wrong decade.
If you want to find out about Parker, read "Bird Lives" or the Miles Davis autobiography. You'll realize how "whitewashed" Clint's film really was.
Another thing, I like Whitaker but I didn't think his portrayal of Parker was much of a departure from his usual schtick.

Cheadle certainly will pull off looking most like him more than any other star. I saw an interview and he is also a big fan. I'm looking forward to it. Of course the script is the most important thing.

I saw Miles davis in concert and he was a very intense individual, very theatrical and stone cold serious. He was also very good with an incredibly tight band.
I like Cheadle a lot but we will see how he does...
thanks

Devil in a Blue Dress, Boogie Nights + Hotel Rwanda show Cheadle to have considerable range and if anyone can make a credible Miles. it'll be him

..."acting".
We shall see. Cheadle is very, very good.
There isn't much online about this project. I'm more concerned about the director and writer at this point.
to fill the shoes of Miles Davis is a tall order and I think few in the world possess his huge presence. I know they often water down the script to give the movie broader appeal. I look forward to the first reports.
thanks

Maybe Jamie Foxx?
