...announced this morning. What do you think?
No Dark Knight or Revolutionary Road for Best Picture.
Also surprised no nominations for Grand Turino such as Best Actor for Eastwood.
I haven't yet seen Milk or the Reader, but of the others I would say Frost/Nixon is better than Benjamin Button and Slumdog.

Apparently Dec 12 release was the deadline. By next year it will have faded from memory.
We're chasing terrorists in the wrong place...they're on Wall St.
Benjamin Button is a snore and so is the Reader. Frost/Nixon and Milk are both outstanding biopics, but the movie pulsing with life and vigor is Slumdog Millionaire. That would be my easy choice.
Nice to see Richard Jenkins get notice for the Visitor, but Mickey Rourke's performance (or is it just really him?) in the Wrestler is unforgettable. No performance comes anywhere close.
Nice to see Robert Downey Jr. for his funny stuff in an OK movie, but I guess Heath Ledger's locked for supporting actor and he deserves it anyway.
Best actress is one where I have only seen 2 of the 5- Kate and Meryl. Decent performances in dull movies. I'll go for Anne Hathaway on word of mouth.
In my favorite category, foreign film, I haven't seen any, so I have some work to do.
