OK, how much did I expect you might say? Well, I expected better than it was. I rented this on the advice of a poster on video asylum. He said it would test the limits of your system and he also appeared to enjoy the movie.
Did it test my system? Yes. The explosions and sound effects were very much there, clear, deep and loud. IMO a bit too loud compared to the remainder of the movie. But it was a "good test".
As for the movie there were far too many errors and rediculous moments to let this movie be something IMO....
-He drives a car with bullet-proof glass, but kicks through the glass?
-When he kicks the guy out of the car, he somehow (through the BP glass) knocks the guy over the console and out a closed door without even remotely ruining the car? Not physically possible to knock the guy out this way.
-Where's all the broken glass?
-Takes on 8-10 guys (all with pipes) without a scratch? Even after being thrown thru a brick wall?
-Spinning the rear wheels.. in his 4WD drive Audi?
-Somehow managing to meet up with a train, the bridge just happens to have a weak spot enough to drive a car through it (and a short curb?) and he actually lands the car on the train, on the right car!?
-Then proceeds to drive from the disconnected train through into the front train?
-And how did he get the thing in gear without depressing the brake pedal?
-Why even transport the girl? Why not just kidnap her?
-I think worst to me however were the rediculous fast motion scenes (almost all action scenes). Every car chase was grossly obviously a sped up film track, same goes for the fight scenes. Not even remotely real looking.
-Plus the entire movie was predictable. It was VERY obvious WHAT he was transporting from second one.
All that said, did I enjoy the movie? A bit believe or not. It was fast paced and somewhat fun even considering all the faults (there's many more). If it were not for the fast forward scenes the movie would have fared far better for me. As it is, I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Without the ff scenes, it would have maybe hit a 3 1/2.![]()

You must be like me. I have a built in "believabilty" meter and when too many scenes send it into the red zone-- I give up and press eject. Now fantasy films such as Batman and such are ok but movies like the Die Hard series and the stuff in this thread are just riduculous IMO.
When you tire of too much CG pap just pop in David Lynch's Dune for a reality check.
Cheers!
Peter
If it's supposed to be about a real guy who just happens to be a great driver, fighter, etc, fine. But let's keep within reasonable limits.... the guy is NOT going to be able to take on 10 guys with pipes and just casually change his shirt after. Stupid IMO. It was really the driving and fighting scenes that killed it for me though. Didn't we stop fast motioning movies back in the early Bond days?

...on the other forum.
Like...who cares????
I mind if folks are into entertainment and action movies, but this is too dumb to ber very entertaining. Then as a rebuttal Joe posted a reviwe that said you have to prepare yourself for "mindless" fun. I can suspend belief for the right movie, but I say beware when a reviewer uses an adjective like "mindless" as a virtue.
I'd rather test the limits of my system with a better movie.
Last week I watched all 3 Transporter movies.
My advice is to watch the first one three times instead...the story is the same, and the girl is much prettier...
...popcorn film like this way too seriously.
If you want to enjoy it, you must suspend belief and just sit back for the ride.
My advice - don't go see Crank 2.
I like popcorn flicks. Bond films, Bourne films for example take a bit of accepting beyond what may be possible. But this film took that to another level. He's not a Terminator brought back from the future where one has to predetermine this portion of the film. He's just a guy, but he's performing acts that are physically WAY beyond what is possible.
And I would have forgiven all that were it not for the rediculous car chase and fighting scenes. I should film my wife driving down the street in the mini-van and going around the corner, then speed it up. Cool. Nope, not cool. :)
I think overall I gave it a good rating all things considered. IMO a 2 to 2 1/2 would have been more appropriate if I didn't like popcorn flicks.
