  After watching the complete series three times over the last 15 years or so, I finally read the book last year. It was awesome, because the miniseries follows the book so closely that as I read the book I could visualize every scene and imagine the actors' voices in my head.

    Everything that was being said, following the book exactly, was true. The latest cinematic release was a shame on the book and series.

  There's a prologue by one of the writers who says very little info given in the 1980 show needs updating. This is a good thing for young people to watch.
