Sorry news, I just read over on the Autosport, Nostalgia form of the death yesterday of Maurice Jarre. I can't find any reference on CNN, but I thought it would be of interest to the users of this form.

Sad news. He did the soundtracks to many of my favorite movies, including 'Grand Prix'. Still a great movie, even after all these years.

    and it's amazing that he did not study music in his early youth. His music while good had an unmistakable FRENCH quality to it. He was very good at image, at finding the right idiom to write in; Russian, Arabian, Grand Prix racing, IS PARIS BURNING and making it fit the story. Ray
