But Rourke was beat out by Sean Penn in that borefest "Milk".
I thought the movie was an about average flick, even Marisa Tomei looked out of place there. Film is professionally made, Rourk as disgusting as he's ever been, the plot below any criticism... if you think there WAS a plot. Did I leave anything out?Yep... Oscar stuff... true as Hell.

Still, a typical American "sports" movie.

to portray an addict?
Disgusting.
I thought she was a bright spot in an otherwise ordinary film. She has great authenticity in every scene and seemed to absorb her character. I think its great that she showed what a spectacular form she still has at her age. Clearly the role allowed her to show a range and a side she had not shown in other films. Much like her role in "In The Bedroom" showed her in a different light than before or My Cousin Vinny for yet another character extreme.Every film I have seen where she has a minor or major role, she stands out from almost all the other actors, even the leads. While I may have a mini Marissa crush I am not alone in thinking of her as one of the better, under appreciated actresses of her generation.
Or maybe its just me and Italian women. I happen to like Anabella Sciorra in all her films too :0)

I think her best role, by a long shot, was in My Cousin Vinny.
Be it as it may, and she is indeed in great shape ***for her age***, granted also that my experience with strip joints is very limited, but she looks to me totally out of place there... read - way too old.
"Way too old" was what the film was about - going on too long without positive growth is self limiting and/or self destructive.
