effort such as Polanski's "Chinatown," but it will more than hold your interest.
Pierce Brosnan plays a lightly disguised Tony Blair-like former prime minister who is beginning to come under investigation for Iraq-based war crimes and links to a Halliburton-like company with strong CIA ties. Meanwhile, Ewan McGregor's character, a hastily hired ghost writer helping Brosnan with his memoirs begins to feel uncomfortable about the violent demise of his immediate predecessor.
This isn't a taut thriller but neither is it flaccid: it's a somewhat pensive blend of character study and political/investigative, somewhat in the "Three Days of the Condor," "Parallax View," mold sans superstars or adrenaline-summoning thrills.
It is entertaining, in an adult way, and with the exception of the very miscast Kim Cattrall, the actors are all top flight second-raters (with the notable exception of Tom Wilkerson who effortlessly strides off with his scenes).
Mc is alright but I never quite felt he really was a writer: he's too hunky and buff.
Brosnan is alright though a bit bloodless.
Anyhow, more than a couple of the lines had the audience howling and muttering: the dialogue is several notches above the usual.
Three stars out of five.

... I'll admit that her character left me a bit puzzled, but I don't have the imagination to come up with a better long time though slightly worn "tidbit on the side" for the PM.
to me. Sex and the City? She's perfect. And that accent came and went faster than a Happy Hour special.
She is one level above waxing WH floors...

hate her politics but, please, don't belittle yourself in attempting to belittle her accomplishments.
Let's see if, at the end of her time in this current office, she actually has done something; that, I'm sure you'd agree, was not the case with Condi Rice. Unless, of course, you'd count amassing an amazing amount of frequent flier miles an accomplishment! I'm sure Condi joined the million mile club during her tenure.

She has no significance in the cabinet, none at all.
But enough politics, you brought her up, you got slammed, the less I remember her mug the better I feel.
