"The Secret in their Eyes:" justifiably honored by

the Best Foreign Film Oscar this past awards was Juan Jose Campanella's thriller set in the times of the fierce Argentine dictatorship of the 70s. A woman brutally is murdered and an investigator runs into an insurmountable problem when he attempts to see justice done. As he pursues the murderer, the emotional collapse of the victim's fianc� weighs on him as does his unexpressed love for his superior, a beautiful but cold judge.
If you've not seen Ricardo Darin before ("Nine Queens"), you are in for a very special treat: he is the equal of any actor today.
The plot is sizzling, the twists are unforeseen, there are no FX or tattoo riven characters, and not a Nazi in sight---- what's not to love?

Thanks for mentioning these two movies. I just watched La Historia Official. I think I will try to watch some Argentine movies, particularly those that pertain to this period of Argentine history.
