In Reply to: RE: Star Wars will be on Blu Ray with extras Fall 2011. nt posted by Elizabeth on August 14, 2010 at 18:23:59
What extras? It will have the same extra stuff the DVD has and likely carried over in standard resolution. Then there will be some reason why the blu-ray won't be 100% satisfactory (it won't be properly restored, it will be the original version, etc.) necessitating a "super duper signature special saphire collector's premium edition 5 disc ultimate deluxe box set" release two years down the line. I'm sick of it.
Lucas should have released a Star Wars blu-ray two years ago when the catalog was still slim. The original movie with maybe the making of documentary and some commentary tracks. That's it. There is no reason why he couldn't other than to jerk people around for a few extra bucks.
After obtaining Star Wars, I breathlessly await the Winter 2019 release of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yeah, right. Screw him.
Follow Ups:
I can't stand the new release of.... every movie out there. And then the super new release as you said. Kinda makes me gag. As for extras of any sort, never watched one in my life. I bought one DVD that had a separate DVD just for the extra stuff. Honestly couldn't care how the movie was made, who made it, etc, I just want to watch the movie.
'spart of the reason I really don't buy movies, "new releases" plus it's extremely rare I watch any movies more than 1-2 times.

... simultaneously in bare-bones and deluxe collector's edition versions on blu-ray instead of trying to stuff the more expensive multi-disc collector's edition set down our throats. A very rare instance of a studio treating its customers with some respect.
