amazing film that can best be described as a chilling adult fable. A man wandering through a forest comes across a cabin in which a horrendous crime has just been committed. From there, we are taken on a journey of maddening complexity but that, unlike many lesser films, repays the effort at understanding. For those who approach films more passively, rest assured that the images, action, and acting are spell-binding enough for your enjoyment.
If you enjoyed, "Pan's Labyrinth," you definitely will enjoy this brilliant gem. It IS very difficult to describe, because of the plot's complexity, and that very well may be a reason for its limited success. That is undeserved: it should be was well-known as are many other top Korean efforts.
Follow Ups:
I've seen so many first class Korean movies recently. They seem to love making freaky, bizarro crime and horror movies.
Spider Forest was released in 2005 according to Wikipedia, but I can't recall ever hearing about it. Thanks for the heads up - I've just bought a copy on eBay.
While surfing for more info I found the following website devoted to Korean movies. My mouth is already watering...
Just can't see Leo as a pimp chasing a psycho.......
Or maybe Leo is the psycho....still can't see it.
Share a bowl of grits with someone you love tonight.

About 5 years ago, but faded into obscurity quickly. Korea was exporting so many movies back then, it kind of got lost in the shuffle.
JackPS I saw it when it first came out, but all I remember was that it was somewhat disturbing.
