I saw on TV " The Inside Man ".
I was fascinated.
How bad can a film really get. That is one of the top ten.

Spike Lee has his own conventions which get in his own way as a film director but to call him the worst director ever when he has done "Do The Right Thing" and when creatures such as Michael Bay exist and flourish is misguided.
I put a ? so it is not a calling but an asking.
Inside man was just terribly bad. Now you did not comment on it...
I thought Inside Man was amusing schlock. Wtf was Jodie Foster doing in that movie? We got to get her in the picture? Nothing too horrible, nothing great. Actually unusual for Lee. Most of his movies have greatness and horribleness at the same time.
While Foster main attraction and reason to be was her name, I thought she played the part well.
It is one of the few projects for hire he's directed.
And I think that Spike Lee is one of America's most talented filmmakers. He doesn't necessarily make perfect movies, and he's even made a few bad ones (Inside Man not among them IMO.
But I think Lee's the real deal. So there.
Go watch When The Levees Broke, one of the best docs of the past 10 yers.
I spent some time in the yesterday evening trying to think what you could in devilīs name, find enjoyable in that one.
And I found out.
I reflected that some " ideas " in the script had a clever way( helas un-well served )-
But just thinking of the addition of Foster, whose role is her name( no she did not played badly ).
A really naive missed opportunity.
That is tragic.
A film with so much shortcomings. Illogical, naive.
You see the problem is that it comes from you. I mean you wrote that.
I can not re-conciliate our both views.
a spike lee joint can get.
A couple of his films, such as Clockers, are actually very good.

I can instantly name at least ten or twenty first-class contenders. Spike is of course one of them, but he constantly gets challenged.

We saw a real stinker last night... Swiss film, Full Moon, pretty pathetic even for a country with no known (at least to me) movie tradition.
And it is the second time I tell you, but old goats never learn anything new.
Still we must try harder.

faux intellectualism. Those endless dialogues with second-rate philosophy. Maybe their not so bad for those that didn't take Philosophy 1 in college....
