This showed yesterday on TCM and features Walter Brennan raising a young boy out in the country who finds a dog. From 1956 it also features a young Sidney Portier, Brandon DeWilde and a small role by William Hooper.
I really enjoyed this film a lot and wonder why I never saw it before. Give it a shot if you come across it, I think you'll enjoy it.........especially if you like dogs.

Yes Hopper, Paul Drake if you will. Have you heard the tune "Drake on the Move" by Della and the Detectives?

has it twice a day.
but never saw the movie. I forgot about it all till you mentioned it. If I remember correctly it was a bit of a tearjerker but just a vague memory (53 years ago). I liked it though.
Is it similar to 'old yeller' the Disney flick?
I'd say it differs from Old Yeller and that I like it more than Old Yeller. Lower sap factor. Better more real characters. Cooler, unique breed of dog too.
