Problem with Bergman is - every one of his films is so deep that you can keep revisiting them every few years, finding more and more in them, which, given the volume of his work, would leave no room for anything else! :)
Another "problem" - his constant use of his favorite actors, who move from film to film... they darn nearly become family members! We grow older with them, just like you do with your uncle... that creates the strange sense of closeness.
Follow Ups:
It's excellent, like most of Bergman's work.
If I only could watch the films of one film maker, it would be him, no question.
I definitely see ears sticking up over the wings as they beat downwards. Though the wings are seemingly too long, that fluttering figure certainly, in that respect, appears to be a bat.
Truth be told - that "secret" has been out for at least ten years, so it is about time your eyes had improved enough! :)
That .gif was a present from a local friend.

Not only the same familly actors, but he used to fuck the women among them.
But with familiar actors life must be far easier!
There is no doubt in my mind, he is the greatest director in the world.
Of course there are one or two Russian directors who match him and on some points beat him.
Anyway when you see what the most of today´s directors work....It is just to laugh about.
Movies, of quality are gone for ever.
The Mac Donalds won.
