which makes it our Das Boot. Did you notice how much roomier it was and how shiny all the brass was? Museum piece.
I praised this movie for being the first to show the diesels going off just as it started to dive (and the switch to batteries).

The interior looked way too modern to me, especially the displays, controls, etc. Also very roomy, more reminiscent of a nuclear sub.

Some filming for this movie took place on an actual WW2 submarine. The USS Silversides (which is available for tours) located in Muskegon Michigan was towed out into the middle of Lake Michigan where scenes with Bruce Greenwood were filmed. The Silversides had some minor re-painting done (rust coloration), but is now back to her original gray color. The rest of the sets and models used in this movie were all based on the look and layout of the Silversides.

Definitely one of the better chillers out there. Not perfect, but definitely worthy of a view.
